British Academy
I would like to thank the British Academy for the award of a British Academy/Leverhulme Small Research Grant (16 April 2017 – 30 March 2018) for the project Àngel Planells’ Painting and Poetry: Reconfiguring the Canon of Hispanic Surrealism. This award allowed me to travel to Blanes, Barcelona and London in 2017 in order to conduct research on Planells and present a paper on the influence of Edgar Allan Poe on the artist. The materials included in this website are the product of this research as will be the book Àngel Planells’ Art and the Canon of Hispanic Surrealism, currently under contract to Routlege Studies in Surrealism series. My institutional affiliation for this project is the University of Sheffield, where I am an Honorary Research Fellow in Hispanic Studies.
